1999 State Champions

“The San Marcos High Golf program formed the foundation of my collegiate and professional career.” -Steve Pate, PGA Tour Professional , Ryder Cup team member and Royal Alumni Golf Chair

Since 1961 no other golf program in the State of California has maintained the consistently high standards of athletic achievement, scholarship and integrity as the San Marcos High School Royals. This long standing tradition of excellence reflects a program rich in talent, deep in coaching expertise and generous support from alumni, the business community of Santa Barbara, friends and families.

The legacy of San Marcos Golf is reflected in many achievements:

California State Champions 1975, 1999, 2001

CIF Champions 1961, 1964, 1976, 1977, 1980, 1981,1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004

League Champs: 1961, ’63, ’63,’64,’65,’66,’68,’74,’75,’76,’77,’80,’81,’83,’87  and 1994-2007

CIF Coach of the Year: John Stoney, 1980

California State Coach of the Year: Cliff Purcell, 1999
